This 4-stroke trench compactor, also known as a ‘jumping jack’ or ‘tamping rammer’, is perfect for compacting ground where space is restricted. Use during trench-works, excavations, roadworks or garden ground preparation. The motor delivers a gives a strong focused degree of compaction force which is especially effective for soils with high clay content which need more force to compact them. They’re compact and easy to transport or move.

The soil's resistance to the trench rammer's impact increases as it becomes more compacted. When the rammer begins to bounce rather than penetrate the soil, it's likely the soil is adequately compacted.
The main difference is that whilst vibrating plates (or 'wacker plates') use vibration to compact the ground, trench rammers use impact force to compact the ground. This is ideal for compacting in tight spaces and for compacting cohesive soils with high clay content, as the direct impact force transfers energy more effectively into these soils than vibration does, therefore compacting them more effectively.
